SKUHelm
NewShopping in ChatGPT, explained for small shops

Your products, ready to sell in ChatGPT.

People now shop inside ChatGPT. To show up, your products need a feed that matches OpenAI's spec exactly. SKUHelm builds it from the shop you already run, and keeps it right as prices and stock change.

Free, no account. Reads public Shopify and WooCommerce stores.

OpenAI's product feed spec

Nine fields stand between your shop and the chat.

The spec has 36 fields. 9 are required on every item, and 4 more decide whether people can buy without leaving ChatGPT. Most shop exports miss at least two.

item_id

Item ID

Stable and unique for every item or variant. Keep leading zeros.

Where shops slip

Regenerated on every export, so ChatGPT sees a new product each time.

Read the full field reference or OpenAI's own spec.

How it works

From shop to feed in about ten minutes.

01

Point us at your shop

Paste your Shopify or WooCommerce address and we read every published product, variant and price. Selling somewhere else? Upload a spreadsheet and match the columns.

We work out the platform from the address.

02

Fix the gaps once

Most problems are store-wide: no seller name, no policy links, no brand. Set them once and every item picks them up, now and on every future sync. The rest are listed item by item with the exact rule they break.

03

Publish a feed that keeps up

Your feed lives at its own address in JSONL and CSV, the formats OpenAI takes. On Pro we re-read your shop every hour, so a sold-out item never sits in the feed as in stock.

For your tools and agents

Everything you can click, an agent can call.

A JSON API and an MCP server with the same four abilities: check items against the spec, start a sync, read sync status and fetch the live feed. Errors come back with a code, a reason and a fix.

Questions

The honest answers.

Does SKUHelm get my shop into ChatGPT?

No, and nobody else can promise that either. OpenAI approves merchants itself through chatgpt.com/merchants. What it asks for first is a clean product feed. SKUHelm builds that feed from your shop, checks it against OpenAI's spec and keeps it current, so you're ready the day you apply and still correct the week after.

Which shops can you read?

Any Shopify or WooCommerce store with a public catalogue, straight from its address. For Etsy, Squarespace, Big Cartel or a sheet you keep yourself, upload a CSV and we'll map the columns with you. You can also point us at a JSON or JSONL file.

Will you change my prices or stock?

Never. Price, sale price and availability come from your shop and only your shop. You can fix things like the brand, description or category for an item, and set store-wide details once, but the numbers a customer pays are always read, not written.

What happens when I change something in my shop?

On Pro we read your shop every hour, rebuild the feed and write down every price, stock and title change. If items fall out of the feed we email you. On Free you press Sync whenever you like.

Why 25 items on the free plan?

It's enough to check your whole catalogue (we read up to 500 items) and publish a first set of items. Pro is for keeping a full catalogue live and in step with your shop, which is the part that costs us to run.

Can my own tools or agents use it?

Yes. There's a JSON API and an MCP server with the same abilities: validate items, start a sync, read sync status and fetch the feed. Keys are per store and you can revoke them any time.
